At Hippy Kidz, we research and source only the finest baltic amber products having tried to find high quality amber products for ourselves, and not being able to find quite what we were looking for. So we set out to source it ourselves.
The beads are threaded onto cotton which will break if caught on something or pulled. This minimises any strangulation risk. Each bead is hand knotted to minimise the number of beads that escape if the item breaks. This minimises the risk of choking. Olive Bean shaped beads, although very popular, pose a greater choking risk since the beads are larger. It also splits more easily than baroque beads and can be sharper when split. Measuring for a Necklace
Necklaces need to be short enough so that they don't hang down and get caught on anything. If it is too long, it could also go over the chin and into the mouth (amber must not be chewed for reasons set out in the safety information below). If the necklace is too tight, it will be pose a risk as well as being uncomfortable. To measure for your necklace, use a sewing tape measure in centimetres and leave a good two finger gap between the tape and neck. It should be loose enough not to look uncomfortable, but not so loose that it can go over the chin.
Our necklaces are a standard 31-33cm length, however do not be tempted to purchase the wrong size. Send us a message, since we may be able to order your size in on our next shipment.

Important Guidelines and Safety Information
*Please note this item is not a toy. EU Toy Safety Regulations state that necklaces, bracelets and anklets are not suitable for children under 36 months due to small parts. Necklaces, bracelets and anklets are for wearing and NOT for chewing
- It is recommended that children wear necklaces and bracelets as an anklet under a sock until age 5 to minimise all choking and strangulation risks.
- Remove all jewellery items when unattended, sleeping, swimming, during play activities, and whilst bathing.
- Necklaces in particular should always be removed from the neck when a child is sleeping or unattended.
- Necklaces should only be bought if they are fitted with a plastic screw barrel clasp since they are designed to break if pulled which minimises the risk of strangulation.
- Necklaces can usually be used as an anklet by double-wrapping the necklace around the ankle and placing a sock over the foot to keep the necklace in place and hidden to prevent pulling (as well as to keep the feet warm).
- Do not allow children of any age to chew on Amber since it is a resin and can break and shatter. Cracked beads could be inhaled and become dangerous/cause choking. Amber properties work through the skin - it should never be chewed.
- Check frequently for cracks and damage. Item can shatter if it has been hit or stood on, posing a choking risk.
- If the item breaks, do not attempt to fix it as its safety may be compromised. A replacement should always be purchased.
- Detergents and perfumes will damage amber.
- Amber is soft so keep stored in a fabric bag to prevent scratching.
